About Magnet Records

Founded in 1971 by the late Mr. Rupert A Coke and operating from Stock Newington North London, Magnet Records quickly developed a market presence with artists such as the late Gene Rondo, Dennis Brown, Keith Hudson, Gregory Isaacs & John Holt. Other artists included, Al Compbell, Dennis Alcapone and Derrick Morgan.

In recent times the label has worked with artists such as Amberlique, Lloyd Brown, Peter Hunningale, Richie Davis, George Nooks, Lukie D, Peter Spence, Lady Lex, Tenna Star & L.U.S.T (First UK release by the group).
The Magnet Records website is re-launching with a selection of MP3 Music Downloads from it's catalogue and all future releases will be made available in this format. The site will be updated regularly so be sure to visit us from time to time and checkout what's new.

Magnent Records is fully dedicated to expanding the world of UK Reggae across the internet, aiming to bring a bit of old and a bit of new to you, the followers of Reggae Music.

History

Magnet Records Recognised the difficulties Experienced during the previous decades with regards to selling Reggae music. This was due mainly to the lack of airplay by the major radio stations. However during this period, Reggae music has still managed to sell itself, due mainly to the few well-established outlets, but unfortunately a large number these well-established outlets  are closing down.

With the advent of the community & Internet radio stations, the amount of airplay dedicated to Reggae music both from the UK and around the world has risen dramatically. This in turn, has created a new breed of Reggae connoisseur, eager to delve back in time, trying to find out more about it's the early origins.

Much care and effort has been made in the design to the Magnent Records website to ensure ease of use. All MP3's on this site are from the Official Magnet Records catalogue and its affiliated labels: Faith & Trans Universal.
